Yevgeny Prigozhin, the owner of the Wagner Group, has announced that he has registered a criminal complaint with the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, addressed to its head. The criminal complaint refers to the news that flew around the world that unknown people killed a Russian prisoner of war ("POW"), sledgehammer who had been captured by the Ukrainian side. Thus, for instance, Evgeny Prigozhin outlines the following conclusions in his statement:
- The murdered Evgeny Nuzhin was indeed a member of the Wagner Group, which he joined as a volunteer, but was kidnapped on September 4, 2022.
- Evgeny Prigozhin has no reason to distrust the words of Evgeny Nuzhin that he was kidnapped in Kiev, but is skeptical about the claim that he could have been kidnapped by Wagner's fighters, as it would have been exceedingly difficult at the moment.
- Evgeny Prigozhin interviewed members of the Wagner Group, questioning them whether they had kidnapped Evgeny Nuzhin and participated in his execution, in the course of which interview none of them indicated to him that they had participated in it, which he considers a very important evidentiary fact.
- Evgeny Prigozhin notes that in Wagner PMC there is a strict discipline and a ban on the use of harsh methods, and for violation of these precepts, disciplinary penalties are levied in the form of public reprimand, imposing penalties with a record in the personal file, as well as an unscheduled duty.
- Yevgeny Prigozhin is also sure that the CIA and the United States in general are involved, because the executioners' uniforms in the video are in Multicam camouflage, which according to Wikipedia was developed by Cry Precision company together with the US Army Soldier's Equipment Center.
