Hundreds Of Kids Expelled From Dominican Republic To Haiti Without Parents |
UNICEF has told CNN that around 1,800 children were thrown out of the Dominican Republic without their parents into Haiti, apparently as part of a push to crack down on undocumented migrants.
A reported 14,801 people in total were sent from the Dominican Republic to Haiti in October alone, with Dominican President Luis Abinader rejecting recent calls to halt the deportations.

Amidst accusations of racial profiling by Dominican authorities, the US embassy has warned Black and “darker-skinned Americans” that they are at greater risk of being locked up.
Local media, the U.S. embassy in Santo Domingo said, is reporting widespread operations by Dominican migration officials aimed at detaining those whom they believe to be undocumented migrants, especially people of Haitian descent.
In a statement issued on Nov 20, Dominican authorities said they strongly reject the U.S. criticism of the crackdown. They said the U.S. embassy’s warning is “manifestly unfounded, untimely.”
