The French Embassy in Burkina Faso has begged local security forces to provide more protection after insisting violent protests targeting the property were left unchecked by local military police.
The embassy also claims footage shows security guards, during the protests in question, playing cards while stones and other projectiles flew.

Burkina Faso’s national gendarmerie chief of staff Evrard Somda responded that the guards weren’t equipped to cope with the volume of protesters, and were waiting for reinforcements.
