Aid workers and witnesses have told AP that Ethiopian government forces and their Eritrean allies have been looting property and carrying out mass detentions in the Tigray region.
The anonymous sources claimed Ethiopian forces have set up detention centers where they have been holding anyone “suspected” of being associated with rebel Tigray forces, sometimes taking away 300 or more youngsters at a time.
A peace accord negotiated in Kenya earlier this month stipulated that Tigray forces would lay down heavy weapons “concurrently with the withdrawal of foreign forces”, despite officials insisting they are still active in the region.
