| WhatsApp Crashes Worldwide |
The service collapsed around 3AM ET Tuesday, with users encountering a “connecting” message upon opening the app, while WhatsApp web screen directs to “Make sure your computer has an active internet connection” error.
“We’re working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible,” Meta spox Joshua Breckman said. (The Verge)

This is the first major outage for Meta since last year, when a glitch also took down Facebook, Messenger Oculus and Instagram. Services resumed in 6 hours and Meta attributed the crash to a configuration change in its routers, with estimates suggesting the outage cost the firm a whopping $8bn. (Free Press Journal)
