FIVE EYES vs China: Canada to Ban Phone Makers from 5G Networks
Canada says it will ban two Chinese telecom giants, Huawei and ZTE, from working on its 5G phone networks.

Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry Francois-Philippe Champagne said the decision was made to "protect the safety and security of Canadians."
The UK, US, Australia and New Zealand have already put similar restrictions in place. Ottawa’s decision to join the ban was expected as part of the intelligence-sharing group Five Eyes.
