Every one
person has a story about their lives and everyone chooses how they want to tell
their own story. All humans were created in God's image despite our differences
in terms of color, size, height, way of thinking, and race, but every person is
different and beautiful in his/her way. Well, that being said, Zanzimana Elly’s
story is such a touching one but with a twist of hope.
Before the birth of Zanzimana, his other mother prayed and pleaded to God for a child so long as they lived. She requested for any child even if it was a crippled child so long as they lived and that's how desperate she was for a child. Sometimes, what you ask God is what he blesses you with but for a reason. Due to her honest prayers, God blessed her with a baby boy whom she named Zanzimana Elly. Her other four children passed away during their infancy as reported by Afrimax a Rwandan YouTube channel.
Being born different, Elly feared looking at people, whenever strangers came by, he would run as fast as she can to seek refuge in a nearby forest because that's where he felt comfortable and his mother would follow her son to comfort him. His facial looked like that of an African chimpanzee at the age of 22. He couldn't communicate verbally and this gave Elly no chance to go to school.
His mother told Afrimax that Elly used to eat grass like an animal and his father would chase him away whenever he came home. He spent most of his time in the forest, climbing trees, and his neighbors referred to him as a "monkey". They would beat him and make fun of him and his dear mother was mocked too.
On 18.
November. 2020, Afrimax aired Elly’s story on YouTube for the first time and it
caught people’s attention. The video stands at 4.4 million views. Afrimax
started a gofundme drive to raise money to help Zanzimana and his mother change
their lives as they stayed in a very bad condition and people gladly donated.
Elly became famous when his stories went beyond Rwandan borders to different
parts of the globe.
Money was
raised and Elly with his mother was built for a fully furnished permanent house
and bought for a cow to give them milk. On 15th.october. 2020,
Afrimax made a return to visit Zanzimana and his mother and he was brought for
a cutting-edge suit. He put it on and his sense of fashion become like that of
your favorite celebrity. His fame is on
the rooftop as everyone wants to take a picture with him. Elly started
schooling at a special school for children with disabilities and their life has
changed thanks to Afrimax.
When I came
across this story on YouTube, it changed my entire perspective towards life. I
can’t believe how Zanzimana a child many abused turned out to become his
family’s change it desperately needed. He was a gift from God to his mother
but, he was a blessing in disguise to his family. I don't know how you're
