This is the best option of protecting your Twitter account and what it will do is to protect your account from unauthorized access by requesting by requiring a second authentication method in addition to your Twitter account. That way even if a hacker figures out your password they won't be able to log in.
  • Go to settings and privacy of your Twitter account.

  • Under Login and Security, goto security
  • Click Two-factor authentication and here you'll be given 3 options to choose from.
1:Text message and here you'll be to use your mobile phone to receive a text message with an authentication code to enter when you log in to Twitter.
2:Authentication app and here you'll use an app to get the authentication code to enter when you log in to Twitter
3:Security Key and here you'll use a security key that inserts into your computer or sync to your mobile device when you log in to Twitter. You'll need to uses a supported mobile device or web browser.

Protect your tweets
This option is only good for personal accounts and not good for business accounts as it helps tweets by your Twitter account be surfaced to only people who follow you not the public.
  • Go to settings and privacy.
  • Click privacy and safety
  • Here you'll see an option showing saying protect your tweets.
  • Enable the setting
Also again under privacy and safety, you can choose not to allow messages from everyone by enabling the setting. This will help you not to receive messages from strangers and also it will block them from adding you to group conversations
