In an election seen as a referendum on his war on drugs, Ecuador’s right-wing president, Daniel Noboa, has defeated leftist candidate Luisa González. Noboa held an unexpectedly wide 12-point lead throughout the count, saying to supporters that there could be 'no doubt who the winner is'. González has refused to accept the result of the election and is vowing to seek a recount Ecuador’s Noboa re-elected in presidential vote seen as test of his ‘war on drugs’
