Trudeau Announces Canada GUN FREEZE
Canadian PM Justin Trudeau has proposed legislation banning the sale or import of handguns, claiming "the fewer guns in our communities, the safer everyone will be."
Although 1,500 military or assault rifles were banned after the country’s worst mass shooting in 2020, Trudeau acknowledged gun crime is on the rise despite govt data showing less than 3% of violent crimes in Canada are firearm related.
The plans include stripping perpetrators of domestic violence or stalking, or individuals deemed a risk to themselves or others, of their firearms license.
