Although it is not the kind of trade that runs like others where you invest money to buy products and sell later, Instant and rapid rise in prices of things due to Russia-Ukraine 2022 war which has been going on for the past 3 months did not only stop from home based things and other things that take hundreds miles to land in Africa but it also affected other kinds of product for money including prostitution or sex trade.
Sex workers from Rwanda, have increased prices for their prices not because they invest anything much, but simply because their former pricing cannot help them cater for themselves because everything is expensive hence leading to them increase their prices too.
One of the sex workers who preferred to remain anonymous had an interview with a local news publisher and talked about their changes of prices and how they had to quickly also raise their prices.

“Before, you could offer one round to a man and they give you 2000 Rwandan Francs and sometimes 1000 Rwandan Francs (Approximately 6600 UGX and 3300 Ugandan Shillings respectively) but now if he doesn’t have 5000 Rwandan Francs (Approximately 17000 Ugandan Shillings) You cannot get our services. We didn’t have to see prices rise and we keep quiet like nothing happened” She narrated.
Although sex trade is illegal in Rwanda, it accommodates hundreds of unemployed all aged women in its different 30 districts but mainly in its capital city, Kigali
