Today is the day! The 24th January 2022. For the first time since March 2020, the entertainment sector is coming back to life following the latest and the last of 2021 presidential address where he stated this sector to open two weeks after schools reopen on 10th January 2022.
Various things were considered before the Government decided to reopen. Covid-19 Cases reducing, the introduction of vaccinations and numbers of vaccinations centers being introduced to the public for people to access them, and so on.
We can say that the government did its part in helping the economy sector reopen but it also in this line that the Uganda national cultural center, Ministry of Gender and the ministry of health have introduced the rules guiding entertainment sector to operate because it is known to attract a bunch of people often in a frenzy behavior and wild moods.
First of all, all people set to attend bars, concerts etc… must be vaccinated. Not only that, but also the agencies have said that all artists must be fully vaccinated against covid-19 or must present a not older than 72 hours covid-19 negative results.
On the other side of event organizers, they have also been required to ensure that there is a space of not less than three meters between the stage and the audience. All attendees are required to have their facemasks on during the whole event and there must be a sanitizing order at the entrance.
The UNCC public relations Robert Musiitwa said that event organizers who will not obey the set SOPs will have their shows cancelled.
