Video gaming in Africa-What African Communities think about video gaming

"Readers at our blog support us by buying stuff through the Affiliate links and the small portion we get help us run the blog and also write high quality content "

Gaming has involved a lot in Africa from pc gaming, mobile gaming to consoles like Xbox,PlayStation and Nintendo which are my favorites gaming platforms right now.

In this article what your about to know now is the current situation of gaming in Africa and speaking of Gaming I've been playing games for over 16 years now and trust me I know each and everything guess you can even call me an OG gamer.I've been playing a number of titles from PCs,consoles and Mobile phones for years now but first let's  know what African communities think about gaming or gamers.

What African communities think about video gaming
I'm from Uganda but I can tell you that video gaming is kinda of hard if your from Africa especially with how other communities view gaming in particular and here is how many other communities think about gaming.
  • They see us as a batch of nerds sitting in one place wasting their time for no reason
  • They view us as a batch of lazy people who don't have work to do especially as most of us spend 6-10 hrs a day on mobile phones,PCs or consoles
  • They view us as savages who are all over Reddit,Facebook,YouTube, twitch and many other social media platforms not knowing they push us to be so.
  • They view us as people who don't have friends.
  • They view us as people who are not socially active or engaging with other communities.
Their is a lot they think about gamers and I can tell you that most parents even punish their kids who try to play video games which is so wrong but anyways I don't blame parents or anyone for this cause most of them are ignorant and they don't know the advantage and benefits of gaming.
They don't know how gaming has helped to connect people through online gaming, they don't know how many friends you can get while gaming and most of all they don't know the fun you can get while Gaming.I did whole video to show you the current gaming situation in Africa and you can click the link below for more.

For people out their who are looking forward to begin gaming,I would say it's ok to be gamer but as it is with many communities, their are negatives and positives but with gaming the positives are very many.

Should African parents leave their kids to play video games.
I would say it's 100% ok to leave your kids play video games and think about all the positive things your kid will get through video gaming and by the way he can earn money through it and thanks to many gamers out their who have proven to the world that gaming is not bad at all like Pewdipie who earns millions of money on YouTube.

Also consoles like Xbox,PlayStation and Nintendo all have parental control so you'll have full control of what your kids watch and play,That way say good bye to your worries of kids having access to adult content.

Another thing which I thank my parents for letting me being a gamer is that playing games helped  to never joined peers who could've got me into troubles like getting expelled from school, teaching me bad behaviors like drinking alcohol, smoking etc while I was still in school

That way while some of my friends where busy learning such stuff.I was busy learning stuff in Games, making new friends and having fun playing video games.I remember this made me do well in my classes as my uncles could promise to buy me a phone or console if I performed very well and guess what ?!?!....it actually worked as I could really focus on my studies hoping for the best holiday if I perform well in school.

MOBILE GAMING IN AFRICA IS BECOMING POPULAR.
I remember my journey to mobile phone gaming started with games like Snake, space impact and tetris on Nokia devices like the 3310 model. They where great games to play by then I was Four years but I can share some great memories too and by the way I used To hold some great unbeatable scores in snake and space impact.
Then with time colored phones came and I could play football (Pes)and racing games,Also some Action games like contra could make my days better.

In the current generation iOS and android smartphones are popular now and they are becoming more & more popular. They are even becoming handheld consoles to many gamers and many phone companies like Tecno and infinix have done great jobs to bring high end specs to budget smartphone.

And with mobile game streaming of popular games like Pubg,Gerena free fire and COD mobile.I can tell you I have made countless friends online from neighboring countries like Kenya,Nigeria,Egypt,Ghana, South Africa and Tanzania plus friends abroad from Asia,Europe and America. Its such an amazing experience on how gaming brings a lot of people together no matter the color,Race and origin,We are all gamers coming together as one.

PC GAMING IN AFRICA IS STILL SO BEHIND
Raise up your hand If you are a 20th century kid and you never played games like Demo Rush,GTA vice city,Need for speed most wanted or GI project on PC!!!!.......It's almost impossible that you never played them or came across other players playing them.

But on serious note PC gaming has been growing to be so much expensive for many players even for players in other regions like Europe,Asia and America.PC gaming is not so common because of it be
ing so damn expensive and for low income earners like us it is  breaking the bank to be able to afford one with great graphics and high processing power.

Their are some eSports gamers from countries like South Africa who are good in PC gaming and also participate in player tournaments of Mortal Kombat,FIFA 21,Call of duty and Pubg but again in many countries it is not so common.

Are Consoles really popular in Africa?
Thanks to companies like Sony,Microsoft and Nintendo who have made video gaming very affordable with their generations of consoles to choose from and while Sony's PlayStation consoles are the most used followed by Microsoft's Xbox consoles,Nintendo had its shining times too during its early days.

Nintendo shined a lot in times where the super 100 NES games were playable on DVD's ohh my GOD!!!....I really miss those good old days of playing 2D games like super Mario,Contra,Elevator,Mega and Circus cause those were my favorite games of all time.

With time PlayStation one came,Nintendo was not seen to be fun anymore by many gamers then it started fading away slowly by slowly and if you ask me if it still has players,my answer is Yes cause I'm one of them but just know it has players who have been playing it for along time for example the Nintendo switch isn't a success here but still game stores here stoke the console which means it sells and their are customers available for it.
